It appeared in more than 3,000 products — from cement sheeting and floor tiles to insulation, paint, and water pipes. If your home was built or renovated before 2003, there is a real chance asbestos-containing materials are present somewhere in the structure.

Best for: Full property assessments, pre-renovation inspections, pre-demolition compliance, and properties where the extent of asbestos is unknown.
Drop-Off Testing (Terrigal Office)
Already have a sample? Drop it directly to our Terrigal office and pay a reduced lab-only fee — no call-out charge. We prioritise your sample for testing and deliver a clear, easy-to-read report as quickly as possible. All samples are analysed by a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities Australia) accredited laboratory — the only legally recognised form of asbestos testing in Australia. The Health Risks of Asbestos Exposure
When asbestos-containing materials are disturbed, fine fibres are released into the air. These fibres are invisible to the naked eye and cannot be detected by smell. Once inhaled, they lodge permanently in lung tissue and can cause serious, life-threatening illness — often decades after the initial exposure.

Scarring of the lungs caused by long-term asbestos exposure, leading to breathing difficulties, persistent cough, and chest pain.
Mesothelioma

Is NATA lab testing really the only legally recognised form of asbestos testing?
Yes. In Australia, the only legally recognised asbestos test is one conducted by a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities Australia) accredited laboratory. DIY test kits or visual inspections are not legally accepted for compliance purposes. CDS uses only NATA accredited labs on every test.
My house was built in 1985. Should I test before renovating?
Yes. Any property built or renovated before 2003 may contain asbestos-containing materials. Properties built before 1987 are at particularly high risk. Testing before renovation work begins is strongly recommended and in many cases required under SafeWork NSW guidelines.
How long does it take to get results?
Standard turnaround varies by laboratory. Express testing is available with results in as little as 24 hours. We will confirm the expected timeframe when you book.
What happens if my test comes back positive?
